Aims :

The aim of the present module is to provide fundamental information on the most important techniques used in the planning of production, material requirements and capacity, and in the production control.

Topics :

General aspects of manufacturing: role and evolution of manufacturing, technical and management functions, planning and production control, decision making process.
Aggregate planning: fundamentals, aim, aggregate production planning process, quantitative models, disaggregation.
Independent demand material management: the role of the stocks, classification methods of items, inventory costs, models for management of continuous and independent demand materials.
Master production scheduling, management of discrete and dependent demand materials, MRP systems, lot sizing, capacity planning.
Production activity control: shop floor order, control systems and their features, shop floor scheduling.
Integrated production planning and control: integration concepts, push and pull systems, bottleneck systems.
