Aims :

 

Knowledge of the basic concepts of the Experimental Physics with a particular attention to the laws of classical electromagnetism and to the interactions between electromagnetic waves and matter. Acquisition of the physical concepts necessary for the correct interpretation of the electrical and magnetic properties of the matter.

 

Topics :

 

Electric field in conductors and in dielectrics. Potential energy and potential difference. Examples and calculation of potential. The electron-volt. Examples, calculation of capacitance. Polarization of matter. Dipole. Electric displacement. Electric current and Kirchoff’s rules. The physics of conductivity: metals, semiconductors and insulators. Magnetic field and flux, Faraday’s law of induction. Magnetism in matter. Maxwell’s equations and electromagnetic waves.
