Aims :

The course is aimed both at introducing the principles of Databases (query languages, project methods and techniques) and an overview of their application in the field of Information Systems, and at giving an acquaintance in their use.

Topics :

Information systems, information and data.

Databases and databases management systems. The relational data model.

The relational algebra. Database design: requirements specification and data model definition. Database normalization. The Structured Query Language.

Information systems application fields.
