Aims :
to promote the understanding of
process design, machinery, and update information
related to the manufacture of pulp and paper.
To further develop the professional skills of
the engineer involved in paper production or in
the development of projects for the paper industry.
Topics :
Knowledge and application of fluids mechanics
in pulp and paper processes. Stock preparation
plant, engineering, machinery, and automation
know how related to pulping, HD cleaning, deflaking,
refining and blending. Refining systems: new conical
and disc refiners, installation in series or parallel,
with or without recirculation.
Engineering ad machinery know-how for: pressure
groundwood pulp, chemi and thermo-mechanical pulp,
recycled fibres and deinked pulps systems.
Paper machine approach system: complete process
design, machinery and automation know-how (cleaning,
screening, air removing). Fan pump with variable
speed drive for flow adjustment. Pulsation dampening
and vibration problems. White water systems and
fibres recovering. Paper and board broke handling
processes (broke pulpers, storage, proportioning).
Storage and mixing stock chests, propellers and
agitators. Instruments for controlling process
from pulping to wet end (flow, consistency, pressure,
level…). Handling and storage systems for
paper and raw materials.
