Aims :
The
course aims at providing a methodological approach
for the training and education of process planners
in determining the activities to construct a manufacturing
process plan. The objectives are to enhance process
planners’ expertise by adding theoretical
knowledge to their practical experience and to
provide them computer process planning techniques
and work studies in order to reduce the inefficiencies
of manufacturing activities
Topics :
Manufacturing processes and their
role in industrial enterprises: the manufacturing
cycle and the process planning, technical functions
and information processing activities in manufacturing.
Concurrent Engineering: integrated design of product,
process and production system.
The logical analysis of a process plan: preliminary
analysis of mechanical parts, job, tasks, sub-tasks,
elementary operation. Geometric interpretation
of technical drawings. Dimensioning and tolerancing
for production. General ad detailed selection
of materials, production processes and machines.
Elements of positioning and workholding. Selection
of tools and process parameters.
Computer aided process planning (CAPP): variant,
generative and semigenerative approaches.
Work studies: methods and work measurament. Manufacturing
costs.
Case examples of manufacturing plans based on
machining, forging and casting
