Aims :
The
aim of this module is to improve the knowledge
of reverse thermodynamic cycles used in applications
at temperatures below ambient and to provide the
student with the competence to design refrigerating
systems and plants.
Topics :
VAPOUR COMPRESSION REFRIGERATING
CYCLE. Basics of reverse cycles. The vapour compression
complete cycle. Exergetic analysis of the single
components and of the whole system. Lubrication.
Design of connecting lines. Refrigerating capacity
modulation.
ABSORPTION CYCLE. Water/ammonia systems and lithium-bromide/water
systems.
COLD CHAIN. Transient heat conduction. Freezing
time assessment.
SYSTEM DESIGN. Example of design of a refrigerating
system applied to the conservation of foodstuffs.
