Aims :

 

Acquisition of autonomic design capacities of machines and mechanical system even if high performances are required or heavy loads are applied.

 

Topics :

 

Elasto-plastic constitutive equations of materials. Low cycle fatigue: Manson-Coffin model, Morrow model. Low cycle fatigue with non zero mean strain. Creep behaviour of materials.
Application: turbin blades, thermal relaxation. Fracture mechanics: Griffith theory, stress theory. Fracture toughness. Stable crack propagation: Paris equation. Load spectra analysis: exceedence and occurrence diagrams. The rain flow method.
Tubes and pressure vessel with thick wall: main formulas for stress and strain under pressure and thermal loads. Radial ,hoop and axial stress. Stress effects due to end constraints for a cylindrical tube.
