Aims
:
The course, divided in 4 sections, introduces
digital systems for signal acquisition and virtual
programming languages, treats measurement systems
based on electro-optic techniques and on image
acquisition and processing and finally introduces
industrial control.
Topics :
1) Analog and digital signal acquisition
systems. Analog to digital conversion: quantization
and digital codins. Sampling and aliasing. A/D
converters. Sample & Hold circuitry. D/A converters.
Signal conditioning, filtering and amplification.
Amplifiers and noise rejection. Multiplexing.
Examples of virtual instrumentation and graphic
language programming. Signal transmission.
2) Laser Doppler Velocimetry. Particle Image Velocimetry.
Laser vibrometry.
3) Image acquisition and processing for measurement,
automation and control. Optical image formation.
Video signal and cameras CCD. Frame grabbers.
Main algorithms for image processing.
4) PID control. Introduction to fuzzy control.

Exam :
Each student will prepare a laboratori
project. An oral examination will be based on
the work prepared and on the subjects of the corse.
