Aims :

 

The aim of the course is to provide the students with the knowledge of heat treatments, the study of trasformations in equilibrium and not equilibrium condidions obtained during these treatmets.

 

Topics :

 

The metallic lattice - interstitial and intermetallic compounds –Hume-Rotary theory – crystalline trasformation –cryistal defects.
Optical metallography and non-destructive tests- X-Ray diffraction of the metallic lattice – fields of application in metallurgy of the rontgenografic methods – powder spectrograms – X-raydiffraction pattern – ultimate analysis for X-ray fluorescence – analysis for electrons and neutrons diffraction
-optical metallography - non-destructive tests- micrographical analysis – typical structures of ferrous materials – fields of application of the micrographical analysis – macrographic tests -fracture surface – microscopy of high temperature – scanning electron micrograph – magnetic-particle test – ultrasounds.
Equilibrium diagram in metallurgy: iron-carbon equilibrium diagram – iron-nitrogen equilibrium diagram – iron-chromium equilibrium diagram – iron-nickel equilibrium diagram – nickel-chromium equilibrium diagram – copper-zinc equilibrium diagram – copper- tin equilibrium diagram – copper-aluminium equilibrium diagram –lead- tin –antimony equilibrium diagram.
Preheating – annealing – normalization – hardeningand tempering – tempering – recovery – hardenability of a steel –strain-hardening.
