Course: Mechanical Engineering

italian version

Aims :

Important features of mechanical response of metals, i.e. high-temperature strength and workability, will be illustrated. The course will then analyse properties, microstructure and composition of non-ferrous metals of wide industrial application.

Topics :

Metals at high temperature; diffusion in metals. Static and dynamic recovery and recrystallisation; climb of dislocation and its role in recovery and recrystallisation. Hot formability of metals. Case study: rolling of metals. Creep: consitutive equations, creep curve, time to rupture dependence on testing parameters. Creep fracture. Superplasticity. Properties of non-ferrous metals (Ni-base superalloy, titanium, aluminum).

Textbooks :

Dispense del Corso a cura del Docente;Walter Nicodemi, Metallurgia: principi Generali, Zanichelli.

Exam :

the development of practices is previewed times to familiarize the student with the techniques of metallografia.L' examination will consist in an oral test
