Aims :
Students
will be taught the technical-scientific bases
of architectural survey using the tools of Representation.
The Survey of an architectural and/or urban artefact
will allow them to understand its geometric-dimensional,
constructive and technological aspects as well
as its history
Topics :
Basic notions of architectural and
urban survey. The history of survey from antiquity
to the present day. Theoretical and analytical
foundations of survey: measurement theory and
methods; measurement tools . Planimetric survey:
alignments , trilaterations , open and closed
transverses, space intersections, plans and planimetric
plans , tachymetric survey. Planimetric survey
tools. Altimetric survey: levelling, spot height
maps, front views and sections. Altimetric survey
tools. Survey methods: direct and indirect (photogrammetric
and automatic); historical knowledge of the work
being surveyed; selection of the most suitable
method in relation to the aim of the survey and
method integration (integrated survey). Thematic
survey. Sketches : free-hand sketch, planimetric
sketche, sketches of front views and sections.
Photogrammetry: the vision and perception processes,
stereoscopic vision, the model, overview of plotting
from stereograms and single photograms. Automatic
survey: overview of the relationship between photogrammetry
and computer graphics. Programs of rectification
from single photograms.

Exam :
A group survey (max 4 students)
of an architectural and/or urban artefact (4 plates
) will be carried out during the course. This
work will be collected in the form of graphic
works , preferably on electronic media. The exam
will consist of the evaluation of this work and
of the theoretical teaching.
Tutorial Session :
Professor Taus will be available
for the students at his d.A.R.D.U.S. office on
Wednesdays from 10.30 to 16.30.
