Aims :
The main objective of the course is to make students
aware of how Drawing, the designer’s central
means of expression, interacts with a large number
of disciplines such as the physiology of vision,
descriptive geometry, design methods, construction
and production techniques. The principal characteristic
of Drawing is an ability to communicate with the
maximum effectiveness a design’s value and
potential.
Topics :
The scientific bases of Drawing
directed at knowing and predicting phenomena through
a process of clarification achieved by means of
Representation using the vast range of available
IT tools. An overview of the problems connected
with the methods of Representation of graphic
design : orthographic projections, axonometric
projections , perspective, free-hand drawing in
the phase of design conception. Drawing for architectural
design. Relationship between design methods and
use of Representation. Design work : plane planimetry
, front views and sections, architectural and
construction details. Technical regulations, symbols
and graphicmeanings.CAD: limitations and scope;
main CAD programs. Representation for urban planning,
symbols and graphicmeanings. Cartography, General
and detailed city plans. Survey and its uses.
Main Survey methods: direct, automatic , photogrammetric.
Critical survey and history. An overview of automatic
survey: Photogrammetry and Computer Graphics.
The main programs of photogrammetric Rectification
in the survey of architectural and/or urban works.

Exam :
During the course, the students
will develop an annual individual design (a plate
)and a group survey (max 4 students) of an architectural
and/or urban artefact (4 plates). This work will
be collected in the form of graphicworks, preferably
on electronic media. The exam will consist of
the evaluation of this work and of the theoretical
teaching.
Tutorial Session :
Professor Taus will be available
for the students at his D.A.R.D.U.S. office on
Wednesdays from 10.30 to 16.30.
