Aims :

The aim of the present module is to provide fundamental information on the most important process technologies used in modern manufacturing industries and on the approaches used in the definition of the process parameters.

Topics :

Role of manufacturing processes in the product life cycle.
Overwiew of manufacturing processes: casting, metal forming and welding processes.
Material removal processes: overview of machining technology, theory of chip formation in machining, forces, energy and power relationships in machining, cutting temperature, cutting fluids, tool geometry (single point tool geometry and multiple cutting edge tools), tool materials, tool wear and tool life, machining operations (turning, milling, drilling and related operations, shaping, planning, broaching, grinding).
