Aims
:
The
course will provide the theoretical knowledge
and "hands on" experience on the use
of the instrumentation for engineering measurements
(mechanic, thermal, fluodynamic).
Topics :
Generalized performance characteristics
of instruments: static and dynamic characteristics;
concepts of signal analysis; experimental determination
of measurement-system parameters.
Measuring devices for: displacement, deformation,
solid body velocity, local flow velocity, acceleration,
gross volume flow velocity, force, pressure, sound
intensity, temperature, heat-flux.
Data manipulation, transmission, record and elaboration
with laboratory applications.
Standard Testing: Study and use of measurements
in standard testing. Examples of installations
and machines testing.
Textbooks :
"Measurement systems: application
and design", E.Doebelin, ed. Mc Graw Hill;
"The laser doppler technique", L.E.Drain,
ed. John & Wiley;
Norma UNI 4546, Misure e misurazioni;
Norma UNI-EN-ISO 5167-1:2004, UNI-EN-ISO 5167-2:
2004, UNI-EN-ISO 5167-3: 2004, UNI-EN-ISO 5167-4:
2004 : gross volume flow velocity measurements.
Exam :
The course is developed in theoretical
lessons and exercises in the labs. The student
has to write reports concerning the exercises
developed in the lab.
The examination consists in a written exam and
an oral discussion of the exercises, the subjects
of the course and the possible experimental work.
Tutorial Session :
After the end of the lesson.
