Aims :

The student should acquire basic knowledge and competence on the behavior of the fluid machines commonly used in industrial plants, in particular focusing on the methods used to control and regulate such machines in their different operating conditions.

Topics :

Basic introduction on the fluid machines.
Turbines used in thermo- and hydro-electric plants and analysis of their behavior during the transients induced by load variations.
Examples focused on the regulation of steam plants, turbo-gas plants and hydro-electric plants.
Fundamentals of internal combustion engines for automotive applications.
Analysis of the fuel plants for both spark and compression ignited engines.
Internal combustion engines emissions.
Injection and ignition plants and their control.
