Aims
:
The aim of the course is to provide the methods
for the integrated use of geometric modeling and
simulation systems to support the design/production
processes. The issues related to the systems customization
for specific application fields will be studied.
Topics :
Technologies for rigid geometric
modeling: solid modeling, surface modeling. Machines
and plants modeling: assembly modeling, issues
for cinematic simulation. The role of geometric
modeling to support design: functional modeling,
parametric modeling, knowledge-based modeling.
Digital mock-up and Virtual Prototyping. System
integration and data exchange issues. Methods
and techniques for Reverse Engineering: applicative
examples in the industrial design field. Process
modeling: IDEF0 methodology. PDM/PLM and ERP issues.
Development of macro and algorithms based on geometric
modeling kernels for the automatic generation
of shapes.
