Aims :
The
course aims to give concepts and methodologies
of performance engineering necessary to design
and manage computer systems. At the end of the
course students will be able to estimate the workload
of the different resources of a computer system
and to properly size such resources so to meet
user’s performance expectations in a cost-effective
manner.
Topics :
The life cycle of an IT system.
Properties and metrics to assess the quality of
IT systems. Models for performance engineering:
Markov models, the queuing network model. Performance
engineering methodology. Case studies: database
services, web services, data centers, e-business
services
