Aims :
The
course aims to introduce the students to the knowledge
of naval constructions basic themes related to
ship planning. Both the hull and propulsion system
design and the interior and exterior plant problems
will be explored.
Topics :
Introduction to ship planning: history
of ship planning; innovative design techniques.
Basic theory: shape measurements systems; keel
geometry; motion resistance; hydrodynamics; hydraulic
modelling; fluid dynamics; aerodynamics; ships
statics. Architecture and logistics of shipyard.
Naval constructions: knowledge of main construction
techniques; extensive analysis of structures by
means of non-invasive techniques. Naval sensors
and safety: sensor analysis to improve the ships
monitoring; sensors analysis to improve working
conditions; systems analysis to supervise the
structural conditions, the environmental worsening
and the fluodynamic state of ship behaviour; development
of integrated systems; development of monitoring
systems. Instruments for ships control and standards:
theory and applications of advanced numerical
instruments; ships planning and maintenance; systems
development in order to dampen noise and vibrations.
Textbooks :
Hard copies of the course.
Exam :
The examination consists in an oral
discussion of the subjects of the course.
Tutorial Session :
After the end of the lesson.
