Aims :


To provide students with the techniques to deal with a descriptive approach for control system design using fuzzy sets, linguistic variables, fuzzy conditional statement, compositional rules of inference.

 

Topics :

 

- The basic issues of fuzzy logic.
- Fuzzy sets. Basic operations with fuzzy sets.
- Linguistic variables. Fuzzy conditional statements. Sup-min rule.
- Graphics and analytical methods for the compositional rule of inference.
- Inference rules for multivariable systems.
- General structure of a fuzzy logic control system.
- Applications to process control with particular reference to “gain scheduling” techniques.

Exam :

 

The final examination consists of an oral test. Usually the student is required to discuss a case study.
