Aims :
In this course, fundamental topics with regard
to the formation and control of air pollutants
are studied with the intent to provide a strong
foundation for design and development of engineering
solutions, devices and systems for industrial
air pollution prevention and control. Environmental,
and mechanical engineering students, as well as
environmental science students, are among the
groups who could mostly benefit from this course.
Topics :
Air Pollutants Strategies for Prevention
and Control of Air Pollutants. Emission Factors.
Uncontrolled Pollutant Emission Rates. Measurements
of Process Gas Streams Pollutant Material Balance.
Empirical Equations Evaporation & Diffusion.
Diffusion Through Stagnant Air. Capturing Gases
and Vapors. Condensation, Adsorption, Absorption
& Chemical Reaction Thermal Oxidation. Bioscrubbers,
Biofilters. Equation of Particle Motion Freely
Falling Particles in Quiescent Media. Gravimetric
Settling in Chambers. Capturing Particles.
