Aims :

The target of the course is the introduction of the fundamental concepts of the ICT technologies.
The basic methodological elements to choice and to use the main Telecommunication Services will be introduced.

Topics :

Kind of telecommunication services, introduction to the signals, to the networks and to the A/D conversion. Hints of modulation and of time-frequency duality. Circuit and packet switching. Telecommunication networks: fixed, mobile, satellite and INTERNET. Computer network: protocols, ISO/OSI and TCP/IP: IP packets, routing, fragmentation, IPv4 and Ipv6 addresses, netmask and subneting; UDP and TCP packets, ports, TCP connections; networks devices; applications and services. Telecommunication networks: fixed, mobile. Network security: password management; abuse complaints; local network security; description of the attacks, the counteractions, the controls; cryptography hints. Multiplation and switching. Transmissive media: the choice parameters, the line pair, the coaxial cable, the optical fibres. Radio and satellite transmissions. Wireless LAN. Source and line encoding.
