To impart the basic elements of Rational Mechanics,
that is the study of the motion of point particles
and rigid and non-rigid systems of particles.
Topics :
1. Vector calculus.
2. Brief introduction to kinematics.
3. Constraints and their classification; rigid-body
constraint.
4. Formulae of Poisson, rigid motion and its properties.
5. Center of mass, inertia tensor, Huygens’
theorem.
6. Kinematic quantities and main theorems of the
mechanics of the point particle; applications
to the motion under gravity and to oscillatory
systems.
7. Force fields, conservative fields.
8. Kinematic quantities and main theorems of the
mechanics of the systems of point particles.
9. Balance equations of statics and of dynamics.
