Aims :
The
main aim of the course is to give to students
the basic knowledge and analytical tools about
the following topics: a) organization and behaviour
of firms; b) market structure and competition;
c) capital budgeting.
Topics :
The course is organized in three
parts:
> Organization and behaviour of firms: basic
concepts of microeconomics (cost functions, markets,
prices); firms’ institutional and organizational
forms; scale and scope economies; make or buy
decisions and vertical integration.
> Market structure and competitive strategies.
Market structures: perfect competition, monopoly,
imperfect competition, oligopoly; industry analysis;
competitive strategies and competitive advantage.
> Capital budgeting. Economics and financial
aspects of firm’s management; contents and
structure of the balance sheet; investment appraisal.
