Aims:
The main aim of the course is to
give to students the basic knowledge and analytical
tools about the following topics: a) organization
and behaviour of firms; b) market structure and
competition; c) economics of information.
Topics :
The course is organized in three
parts:
a) Organization and behaviour of firms: basic
concepts of microeconomics (cost functions, markets,
prices); firms’ institutional and organizational
forms; scale and scope economies; make or buy
decisions and vertical integration.
b) Market structure and competitive strategies.
Market structures: perfect competition, monopoly,
imperfect competition, oligopoly; industry analysis;
competitive strategies and competitive advantage.
c) The economics of information. Cost structure
and market structure of digital products.
