Aims :
To give the basic concepts for mathematical modelling
the human motor system and to explain the main
methods and techniques relative to human movement
analysis.
Topics :
The human motor system: elements
of physiology and anatomy.
Mathematical modelling of human motor system:
geometric and temporal characterization of motor
tasks, kinematic characterization of segmental
movements, dynamical models of human movement.
Techniques and instrumentation for acquisition
and processing of kinematic, dynamic, electromyographic
and kinetic variables. Signal and data processing:
stereophotogrammetry, epipolar geometry, linear
and non-linear estimatio methods, digital filters,
EMG. Models for the study and interpretation of
motor control. Consolidated clinical applications:
gait analysis and posture. Seminars on specific
topics to be agreed with students.
Textbooks :
- Notes of the lessons;
- Biomechanics of Human Movement (Berme et al.
eds., 1990 Bertec Corporation, Worthington, Ohio,
U.S.A.);
- Three-dimensional Analysis of Human Locomotion
(Allard et.al. eds., 1997 Wiley, Chichester, England).
- BioIng. della Postura e del Movimento
(Cappello et al. eds., 2003)
Exam :
Written and oral trials are foreseen.
Discussion of home-work elaboration assigned individually
to each student constitutes integrant part of
examination.
Tutorial Session :
Every Monday from 15.00 to 19.00.
